Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world?
In the ocean with gills that allowed me to breathe underwater and explore the Marianas Trench. We know more about the surface of Mars than we do about our deep oceans.

Do you have a nickname?
They call me Thunder... No, my friends used to call me Uma Thurman because my last name is Thiermann which exemplifies the low bar of wit that was required for a nickname to stick in those days.

You can only have one type of food the rest of your life... what is it?
Namibian Black Rhino. Kidding, I'm a good person, sort of.

Bucketlist travel destination or itinerary?
Madagascar.

Scary movies, yes or no?
No, I'm on a strict comedy-only diet.

Top burger recommendation?
Elk burger.

Go-to music type or band?
Gillian Welch, she sounds like Christmas.

What drew you to surfing? How old were you?
I started when I was 10. First I wanted friends, then I wanted to get barreled, then I wanted to see the world. The ocean provides.

If you could spend an hour with anyone in history who would it be?
Psychedelic explorer, Terence McKenna.

Favorite non-surfing sport/activity?
Hunting. Or performing shitty standup comedy at open mics. I have a low success rate with both endeavours.

One thing no one knows about you?
I have slight OCD and I need to do a 360 degree spin before I get into the driver's seat of a car. Sometimes I can control it, but other times it gets away from me and I look like John Travolta in Saturday Night Fever before I can put the keys in the ignition and drive away.
